Nation Broadcasting continues its growth streak

Nation Broadcasting has again hit new listening highs, achieving 7.672 million weekly listening hours in the latest official national listening survey for its portfolio of stations (RAJAR Q1 2026, released May 14, 2026).

The combined weekly reach of its stations also hit an all-time high of 1,348 million weekly listeners.

Nation’s Founder, Jason Bryant said: “We’ve seen continued growth with the help of our newest stations Nation 70s and Radio Exe coming into our RAJAR portfolio. Nation remains well positioned for further growth as we expect to benefit from the increased availability on DAB for our national decades-based services in future surveys.”

Group Performance Highlights

Total Listening Hours: Nation stations recorded a combined 7.672 million listening hours, consolidating its position above 7 million hours and nearly 2 million hours up on the same quarter last year.
Weekly Reach: Nation Broadcasting's weekly audience grew to 1.348 million listeners, a new record.
Nation remains the UK’s largest independent operator of local, regional, and national commercial radio services.

Key Station Performances

Nation Radio South: Reach is up 28% year on year.
Nation 80s: Increased its audience by 42,000 on the quarter and its hours by 72% on the previous quarter to 566,000.
Nation 90s: Recorded a 48% gain in audience hours to 227,000.
Nation 70s: A strong debut with over 300,000 listening hours.

In Wales, Nation Broadcasting operates Nation Radio, and Dragon Radio across the country, along with four local commercial radio stations covering Bridgend County, Swansea Bay Region, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.

In Scotland, Nation Radio broadcasts to Glasgow, Edinburgh and across the central belt.

We also operate a variety of additional Decades and Genre services on Nation Player and on DAB in selected locations – including decade services from the 60s to 00s, Nation Love, Nation Dance, Nation Rocks, Nation Classic Hits, Nation Xmas and Nation Hits.
